KILLADELPHIA Exclusive Cover Reveal Ahead Of November Release

We have a special treat for you today in the form of Killadelphia. It’s a double-whammy on the docket as Image Comics kicks off a full month of “Killadelphia Summer Reading” with a tease of the critically acclaimed series’ return in November and an exclusive cover reveal. But that’s not all, gang. We’re celebrating the upcoming issue 31 with an exclusive cover reveal, plus we have the debut issue for you to read right now.
The ongoing series follows a small-town beat cop who returns home to bury his murdered father, revered Philadelphia detective James Sangster Sr. What Sangster Jr. doesn’t anticipate is unearthing a mystery unlocking a path of horrors that will shake his beliefs to the core. The city once stood as a symbol of liberty and freedom, but has since fallen prey to corruption, poverty, unemployment, brutality… and vampires. (Ok, you had us at “vampires.”)
And if you thought President of the United States John Adams was long-deceased, well, you’d be wrong. Turns out ‘ol Adams is in the throes of building an undead army to stage a bloody new American revolution. It’s up to Jimmy and an “unexpected companion” to thwart Adams’ bloodthirsty plans. Check out some more info about the latest issue and the exclusive Killadelphia Issue 31 cover reveal:
In this latest arc, villains have become heroes, with the line between good and evil blurred beyond recognition. Philadelphia is ravaged by the war between Heaven and Hell, and our heroes are DEAD…But from the ashes of despair comes the spark of hope that will set up a bold new direction for this series…and things will never be the same. To celebrate the upcoming continuation of this sold-out, award-nominated series’ return, here is a chance to start from the very beginning with the first full issue available to read for free!
From writer Rodney Barnes (Marvel’s Runaways and STARZ’s American Gods) and Jason Shawn Alexander (Spawn). Without further ado, we take you back to where it all started. Enjoy Killadelphia chapter 1, and dive into the series ahead of issue 31’s November release.

‘Blacula’ Graphic Novel Coming from Writer Rodney Barnes (Exclusive)
The TV writer, known for ‘Runaways’ ‘Winning Time: Rise of the Lakers Dynasty, and Wu-Tang: An American Saga, is teaming with his ‘Killadelphia’ artist Jason Shawn Alexander for a Blacula graphic novel.
Blacula is rising again. The cult classic horror character is returning in a new graphic novel from Rodney Barnes and artist Jason Shawn Alexander. The Blacula graphic novel has long been a passion project for Barnes, a veteran TV writer and producer whose credits include the Marvel/Hulu series Runaways and Starz’s American Gods.
Barnes grew up on the Universal monster movies, and his notion of what horror could be changed when he saw Blacula at age eight.
“I’d never seen anything with people of color prominently positioned in the piece,” Barnes told The Hollywood Reporter from the set of the upcoming HBO Lakers drama he is executive producing. “I was blown away. It was a lot more authentic than anything else I’d seen up until that point. It sort of lit a small flame in my imagination.”
Now Barnes is gearing up to publish the first of three planned graphic novels later in 2022. The first will pit Blacula against Dracula, and just like the films, there will be the opportunity to use horror to examine society.
“Blacula and Dracula have lived for hundreds of years. They’ve seen it all. So the
y have a different perspective, being able to hear the past, speak to the present,” said Barnes. “You really don’t have that with any other monsters because other monsters are just monsters, but vampires are manipulative. They also have good memories. They know who they were.”
MGM currently has a Blacula film in the works, while Barnes would be interested in pursuing something in television. Says the writer: “I’d love to be able to explore him beyond where we are now.”

THE MANDALORIAN COMIC ADAPTATION BLASTS OFF IN JULY – EXCLUSIVE
Get your beskar armor on and prepare to relive a memorable Star Wars adventure.
Starting this June, Marvel’s The Mandalorian will be an eight-issue, episode-by-episode adaptation of the Disney+ series’ first season, StarWars.com is thrilled to reveal. The series will be written by Rodney Barnes and illustrated by Georges Jeanty, with several variant covers available for each installment. For fans of The Mandalorian and Star Wars comic-book adaptations, it’s a chance to experience the events and characters of Season 1 in a whole new way. You can check out the main cover for issue #1 by Adi Granov, a stunning image of Mando ready for battle, below.
“The story of the Mandalorian checks so many boxes of the stuff I’m passionate
about,” Barnes tells StarWars.com. “I love Westerns, fantasy, science fiction, comedy, drama…it’s a dream gig for any writer. I’m just glad I was chosen for this assignment!”
“I’ve always thought an artist’s style is a lot like writing in short hand. It’s very subjective. What I bring to Star Wars is my detail and love for a galaxy far, far away,” adds Jeanty. “Star Wars, especially where bounty hunters are concerned, is a messy landscape. I love drawing all the little details. My look has always be detail oriented, and with The Mandalorian there is so much going on with the character and in the background, and I look forward to adding visually to the already rich tapestry that makes up this universe!”
Stay tuned to StarWars.com for more on Marvel’s Star Wars comics, including exclusive previews and much more.
